Optispark or what?

Hey Paul,
Cruise dose not engage.

Christmas day when I gave it to my wife it ran great for about ten minutes then started the same things all over again. Seems to start acting badly once it's at operating temp.

I KNEW it! I will bet a zillion $ you have a bad TPS!

Paul

My motto has always been, troubleshoot as much as you can without tools first. Your symptoms, coupled with the fact that the cruise does not engage indicates to me you may have a bad TPS.

Please let me know.

Eckler's has a GREAT one that is adjustable.

What I did was in this order:

1) Replace the TPS and adjust it with a DVM at closed and wide SLAP open throttle.
2) Follow the FSM to adjust the cable drum.
3) ONLY then adjust the cruise per the FSM.

Now my cruise is rock solid.

Good luck.

Don't rule out

Could be bad gas.How long did the car sit with it's present fuel before you bought it.:upthumbs

kenmack,

That is a good question. I pulled the paper work from the dealer they had the car since late August or so. A repair order shows work done in October. So fuel has been in there about 4 months. I'm in the process of pulling the tank sticker, maybe I'll just drop the tank empty it and clean it.

If the dealer had the car for 4 months no telling when the last owner put the gas in the car. How full is the tank? If it were me I would put some octane booster in and fill the tank to the top with the best premium you can find. Not only do you have the unknown age of the fuel but you also do not know what grade was put into the tank. While you are pouring additives into the tank add some dry gas since there probably is water condensation in the fuel. You said it ran for a while on Christmas and then quit I am putting my money at this point on the fuel as suggested earlier. I certainly would not try to remove the tank. If you can get it to run on the boosted fuel take it out and run it until you have to put about 15 gallons of premium in it. This will get it fully warmed up and you will see the car start to run better as it clears it's congested pipes:boogie. One last thought Again by not knowing how the car was stored or where you might take the air cleaner off and make sure a mouse has not moved his family into it.

Well,
I found two nests of some sort. One under the passenger side fuel rail cover and one in the well under the shifter. Being I had to fix the floor pans I removed everything from the interior and found the nest between the side panel and in the well.
Gas tank is at 3/4 full. I have done alot of work on C4s so dropping the tank is really no problem. Pulled the air filter assembly and duct work found nothing except alot of carbom build up on the throttle plates.

So I take it that you foreclosed the two properties and that the families that lived there are now on welfare and looking for a new home.;LOL;LOL;LOL
