Optispark?

What model year vette did they start using the optispark disty's in?

just curious as they seem to be an issue a lot?

This distributor was used on 92-96 Corvettes with LT1 and LT4 engines.

It looks like you're out of the woods on this one.

I don't know what possed them to do this :confused :confused
Looks like it will make a simple "tune up" become not so simple, not so cheap.
It must be the balls to be able to lift a big C4 hood and see the distributor wide open on top !

We can forgive them though because it is still an awesome vette!

OptiSpark - works great, lasts a long time!

Well, for me anyway. 11+ years with the same one.

Of course, I learned early on not to wash the motor and to avoid getting it wet. I also learned that at the first sign of trouble, put a hair dryer to it before the moisture does any real harm.

I'm happy that the LS1 doesn't use the OptiSpark though. One less thing to worry about - as if the C5 doesn't have a bunch of quirks of its own!!!

The opti-spark module is one of the reasons why the LT1 produces so much more horsepower over the L98

Like anything else...it can go bad! My car is ten years old and never had a problem with the opti. When I do...it will be fixed and the water pump will be replaced at the same time.
