Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

order of wires on distrib.?

I think you need to disconect your wire going to the est and try to check your timing if you have a timing light?

The wire is on the drivers side right at the back of the head,it is a two piece conector.

Also 86 vets have a problem with idle I think you should disconect the + cable on the battery for 90 seconds and run it for about 15 or 20 miles to see if the computer learns the engine .Then shut it down and let it cool over night and start it in the morning.

Well, it starts and runs now. I pulled off the distributor cap and unplugged/replugged all the wires and it fired right up.

Reason I'm not ecstactic right now is because it still appears to have a vacuum leak. The engine still revs up and down, though not as much as it used to, and the vacuum rises and falls with the revs. Tomorrow I'll start spraying carb cleaner around again and see what happens, but I'm going to be extremely ticked if it's something under the plenum/manifold again.

Should I have used teflon sealant for the small bolts holding the plenum to the runners? They do open into the inside of the plenum.

thats good news Rich! i'll stop over tomorrow so give me a ring on the cell when you get home or when you get off work so i can meet ya say 4:30?

Remember! your on stock tuning and with that new H/C/I the car will surge alittle anyway. if it's only suring 50-100 rpm i think you got it licked but it might help to teflon the small bolts you are talking about to be extra sure.
