I think you need to disconect your wire going to the est and try to check your timing if you have a timing light?
The wire is on the drivers side right at the back of the head,it is a two piece conector.
Also 86 vets have a problem with idle I think you should disconect the + cable on the battery for 90 seconds and run it for about 15 or 20 miles to see if the computer learns the engine .Then shut it down and let it cool over night and start it in the morning.
