I am looking for some original color paint for a 1975 "Steel Blue". I will do a complete repaint in the future so I need info on bulk quanity but for now I can get by with cans of original color spray paint. The plastic front cap needs a little touch up and I was going to do it myself. I will have a professional do the complete job later.

If you're seeking OE touch up paint in spray can ... probably gonna be hard to find. Likely that color-code hasn't been used in many model years. Probably not gonna find it on shelves of walmart or parts stores because it'd probably be a real slow mover. If you do find some ... good chance it'll be so old that the aerosol charge is low/gone. And probably been through untold heat cycles in warehouses /trucks ... probably ruined.

Suggest looking up in your yellow pages for "automobile, paint/body shop SUPPLIES" ... aka paint store for cars ... where your local body shop gets their paint/bondo etc. Visit the store with your car ... they'll look at the id plate & tell you the paint code (you write it down & save) ... they can also sell you a pint of color-matched mixed paint & a couple of "Preval" brand spray units & a quart of lacquer thinner. You mix a bit of paint & thinner & pour into the preval bottle (it sits on top of a preval can holding charge) ... then you use it just like a spray can. Results ... well... only as good as what you'd get from a spray can ... but at least it'll match. Tip ... your paint has probably faded & may not match perfectly with code. The paint store often has a guy who can adjust the mix ratio to match your fade ... you have to have the car there for him to work with. BTW ... lacquer paint is what came on your car... and it does NOT dry to a shine ... you HAVE to buff lacquer in order to make it shine. With a bit of luck ... the guys at the paint store will advise you on the basics.

Thanks

Thanks for the information. I know of an automotive paint store near where I live. I will check with them. Y'all are great!:BOW
