Ouch! is right. Snow and wide tires do not mix - especially extreme summer performance tires.

Looks like the OEM Michelin snow tires weren't up to the job.

Some folks just aren't that bright... Probably couldn't pass the Corvette pre-ownership test!
:chuckle

Looks like the airbags deployed, so he must have hit something fairly hard,
and since the passengers bag deployed, there must have been someone in the seat.
Probably a pretty wild ride for a short amount of time.
Andy :w
And I agree........... whointhehe11 drives a Vette in the snow except Junkie,
and he's well qualified to do so!

If you don't respect the car and the conditions you're driving it in you should not be on the road or behind the wheel.

I wonder if he had the dial set to "Weather".

There are just some things you can't do with a car in the snow. :w

Or parts car. I'll take the full spoiler.

New car, just can't help but take it for a spin.......and then literally "spin" it. Some people don't deserve these cars......

Hey, maybe he bought the car and it had bad paint, Chevy wouldn't help him out, so he thought the easiest way to get out of it was wreck it? Maybe? No, I don't think so either. :L

It continues to amaze me that some people are so stupid as to drive a Corvette in any kind of snow situation!! I just cannot say anymore!

So you're coming home from your son's house after thanks giving and when you hit the Smokeys the snow starts. Best thing to do is get off the road, but everyone does that and the motels and restaurants fill up quick. Since I've made that trip 1 or 2 times a year since 1988 about 40,000 miles the car was equipped with deep tread narrow Dunlop tires I use to run in the rain. Travel was not a driving issue but I know what you mean and understand why stupid people do that. That's what I've always done with my Corvetttes and my first 3 were year round divers, after all it is an automobile not to be confused with a garage queen.

I hate getting caught in the rain - only an idiot would drive a new vette in the snow.

Well, Dad, you are very lucky if you haven't encountered any problems driving in snow. I've had Corvettes for many years and have never found them to drive well in heavy rain and certainly not in snow. And with the newer ones with those huge tires, it is even worse. The Corvette does NOT handle well in those weather conditions so why tempt fate?? Again, you've been very lucky, I'd say.

Actually, if you look at this picture............

It wouldn't surprise me if the owner claimed it wouldn't start and
the damage was caused by the flatbed operator when it was being loaded! :L

Luck is not the trait I rely on when driving. If you can't drive in that kind of weather don't, but for those that can and do so without problems I don't see how that makes them stupid. I see many more FWD, RWD, 4WD in the ditch than I do Corvettes but then most of us are smart enough to know our weaknesses so the Corvette is in the garage when it should be.

Why did GM put a heater and windshield wipers on the Corvette?

Today we have 8" of fine drifting snow going for 6 more this weekend, no I'm not driving my Corvettes, rest easy. :thumb

Thanks for your kind thoughts. ;)
