Question: Ownership history?

I'm attaching another pic of the rear end. Based on my reading of the NRCS Tech & Judging guide, that part of the car seems correct. I'm racking my brain, and I can't remember whether the doors had a protruding button/lock vs. a standard surface mounted lock. I've looked at the side pics and it does seem like they're not push-buttons. The side mirror position seems correct for a '68 made in March, 1968.

'68 above; note the thumb button on the door. This is a one-year-only feature for the '68 models.

Do you have the VIN for this car? If she's a '68, VIN will be 194378S4XXXXX with the Xs indicating the consecutive unit number.

:)

The VIN # prefix corresponds with a '68. I ran the VIN thru Autocheck.com and the report came back clean, estimating 1-owner. A series of registrations ran back to the late 90's, all done in the identical geographic location, no liens, etc. The car's doors remain unexplained, though. I'm thinking seriously of passing.

Thanks for all your helpful comments. You folks have be great. I'm hooked!

Didn't you say that he was the orginal owner? Why not ask him why the doors are not correct?

Hehehe --- another Ralph from MD. Welcome. Same goes here as Jeff said. If you need anything, I'm in Frederick.
