Just before the start of winter my dealer installed the upgraded seal on the top of my 99 convertible to prevent the top from rubbing on the paint. When I got the car out in spring I noticed that the passenger door window severely overlapped the top at the window corner. The dealer was unable to get it adjusted and referred me to an upholstery shop to have the top cut and trimmed and new bindings sewn on. The work was just completed, but hte shop told me that the problem had nothing to do with the new seal. They said it is an engineering flaw in the design of the top. They said that there should be something (I forget what he called it) under the top near the corner of the window to relieve the stress of the cable that runs along the contour of the window top and side. He claims that there is so much stress on the top from the cable that the top actually stretches. He aslo said that when he took the top off the car, underneath along the seams on both sides of the top it was pulled apart because there was so much tension. What is your take on this. I did not have the problem until the new seal was installed and also know another person who has a 2000 that experienced the same problem after having the upgraded sea installed. As always, thanks for your input
