Peter,

I was wondering if you might ask Arie what type of blow off valve Callaway put on his car.

Thanks
Josh

Hello Josh,

No problem, i don't know if Arie got all the technical spec's of his Callaway but it's worth a try!

Groeten Peter.

Thanks! :beer

If he can't find out what type it is...a pic should do the trick.

I think the info will follow shortly,
This is the best pic i could find..

I also got the full 1.4mb version @home if you want to go into detail.

Greetings Peter.

Josh It looks like the stock unit. I have the work sheets on that car both times it was brought back for service and no where does it say the wastegate was changed. Callaway Cars are modding my wastegates when I take the car in for some service. I am having alot of work done by them . Maybe in this case it is that I have had alot of work done by them in the past and am having alot of work being done now.

Actually a blow off valve and wastegate are two different things. If you watch the video that high pitched whistle when he shifts gears is a blow off valve venting the boost when the throttle body closes up. Typically its mounted on or after the intercooler(s). Their use is to keep boosted air from slamming back into the turbo's impellers when the throttle is let off.

Pete, I guess Callaway is kinda playing favorites since their going to mod your wastegates and not mine. ???? Unless they plan on shipping yours to Turbonetics.

Josh on #10 I have the Callaweay worksheets with the work done both times and it does not show blow off valves or wastegate changes. I guess with all the work I am having done that is why they are doing it . I know I have spent alot of money there already and am spending a bunch more in the near future. I guess it pays to SUPPORT them .

The installation of a blow off valve on the Callaway plumbing wouldn't be all that difficult. Put a huge hole in the front most end tanks of the intercoolers and bolt them there. Then, knock holes through the hood so the blow off valves would protrude out of the hood and look really really really cool. Plus, the noise would be much louder! :L

You guys wanna talk mods to wastegates? Try $1k in labor alone... unless you're planning on removing and re-installing the turbos yourself. If you got the green and Callaway knows you're serious-- they'll do most anything. It's only money. ;)

Welll when you are getting a new exhaust with Megaphones Single Mass clutch wastegate revalving new prom updated wonderbar plus a whole lot of other goodies too . I guess they will do anything for the right amount of money.

I really wish I could support Callaway. I tried twice this last week to purchase from them and they couldn't help either time. I wish I had 10k to spend there.

I wonder if a BOV was put on at a later date. you can clearly hear it in the vid.

Blow off valve and wastegate's.. Hmmm you got me there.. :D
Somebody got a nice example for me so i know where to look for?

Groeten Peter.

They're called

"dump valves" in the UK! :eyerole The boy racers love them. In fact at the pub I go to on Wednesday nights all they do is rev their little 100ci engines up and blow the dump valve.

Other great gadgets include some strange device that injects fuel into the exhaust for a flame effect. Sometimes all this looks like it's going to do is set the car on fire. ;LOL Looks REALLY LAME if they're car is on tickover too!

I prefer the flames that come out of my exhaust on the over-run ;)

Everyone says to me: "your car shot flames out of the exhaust" :cool

We don't need no stinkin blow off valve. Just stay in the throttle:gap No need to waste boost:D

Here is the info if gotten from Arie:

twin garrett turbochargers with intregal wastegate,s

hopelijk is de vraag hiermede beantwoord groeten arie

I don't know if you can do something with this info? Arie has two boxen full of info and reviews on his car, so i think there is more info. But i don't know if he has the time to look for it...

Groeten Peter.

I have contacted the engineer who built the number 10 car. I will wait and see what he has to say about it. :)

I hope they do a better job on your prom than they did on mine. It has to be one of the worst programming jobs ever. They didn't even put it on a dyno for testing. When I did you could see how messed up it was. It was really erratic with dips in the curve across the rpm band. I got another 25hp/50lbft peak AT THE WHEELS by switching to a stock Hypertech chip. It also smoothed out a huge dip in the curve at about 4200rpms. With their chip it would lose 50hp/100lbft at that spot as if someone turned off a switch. Good luck with your mods.

Kevin, isn't that a very good reason to go back to Callaway and let them see what the problem is. And where you payed money for and didn't get a good result?

It's a long story but the work was done before I bought the car. My car will not be going back there any time soon.
