Paint looks great steves, I'm also in need of a paint job, any idea what kind of paint they used and how many coats? I'm thinking of black base coat with dark blue highlights and 3 coats of clear with maybe a tint to it, gotta do some research on vette painting before I start, Ive had good luck with ppg and dupont, if I can figure out how to get the rear spoiler off I'm gunna experiment on it when the snow starts.
i will find out what all he used, dupont, iam sure of, dont remember how many coats, but it sure does look nice, i will be posting some more pics on my pic site as soon as it clears up.

GOOD CHOICE! ;) Spiral Gray was only avail. in the 03's & 04's...I fell in love with it...hence.. check out my signature. :D

BTW. . .in the sun, you can see the blue in it, IT'S BEAUTIFUL!

If you like gray and want to stay with a Corvette color, do a search for Spiral Gray Corvettes. I think Spiral Gray has been available for the past 4 or 5 years, but I note that is has been discontinued for the C6. It's a little darker than what most people think of as "gray", but in person it has a real depth.

Good Luck,

Steve,

Nice job!!! Lane at Mirror Magic now has my '69 coupe in the shop, and he is just about finished with the complete strip. I am impressed with his work and patience. He chose to use a razor to strip mine down to the primer.

Paint job

My 1969 Corvette was originally daytona yellow. Someone painted it maroon. Looks nice but I am replacing everything as much as possible in the car. Does anyone have an opinion on how much difference it makes when selling it if the paint is not original. Or is or is it better to paint original color?

Thanks

Hey John, wow the 69 is nice , i seen him striping it with the razor, never seen that before, but seemed to work, you have one nice car, i want to see it after its all done.

Steve, excellent! the charcoal really is superb, and a bunch of other adjectives!!! if you don't mind, how much do you have invested in the paint/body work?

Robin

Hi Robin: i got 3,500 in the paint and body work, the guy was a little slow, so got it a little cheaper, iam happy

Does rare 81 have any more pictures? I too have a 23 year old charcoal that just can't hold a candle to the color of rare 81, that is sweet! What did the paint job cost you?
I'm not sure if you can access this without being a "Supporting Member" but worth a try ;) If not, and rather than steal Steve's thread I'll post a few photo's in the Registry Forums ;)
