I am repainting my car and I want to go with something sweet. I am going to stay with blue since it was the original color. I want to do something with pearl. Is the pearl in the paint or do you put it in the clear coat? I am having a hard time finding a sweet blue that is darker with pearl or metallic or whatever. I am also going to put ghost flames on my car. Hopefully someone can help me out with colors or maybe someone has a dark blue car that I can check out.

The pearl is in the paint. Do you like any of the newer (00 - 05) blue paints like electron blue or Lemans blue? They have a nice hue in the sunlight.

I am partial to the brighter blues, like the 99 Nassau blue or the 96 admiral blue in pearl. If I repaint in a few years, I'll do a pearl also. It makes the curves on the C3 body show better.

Pearl Color

Pearl is an effect not a color.
Some folks mix it with the paint.
Others mix it with the clear.
I do it with the clear.
To much Pearl effect will make the color
look milky. Also Pearl effects comes in many colors.
Silver, red, blue, green, so research it.
House of Color Paints is a good one.
When you lay down a silver flake base, add oem black
on that, then clear/red pearl it looks black, then again it looks
red, then again it looks like a deep purple, then black.
At night hell you might as well be on mushrooms. lolll

i like electron blue metallic pearl,base/clear as you can tell from my pics.it looks lighter in the sunlight and darker in the night, no, really, not just because it's dark out.

I had a 1977 that was Fiat Blue with black ghost flames. In the daylight it was hard to tell the blue apart from the black. At night the car almost looked purple and the black flames were very visible.

That's a nice color Mike. Is it the Corvette Electron blue from the C5? Did you add pearl to it?
I'd like to see it in the sun.

Should I put the pearl in the base coat or the clear coat? Which looks better? If I put it in the clear coat then what color should I get if i use a darker blue for the base and I plan on putting ghost flames in? Is House of Kolors a good choice for paint?

correct, it's nason's version of 2003 electron blue metallic.the pearl is added to the base coat at the paint shop.i was warned of being an amature and adding pearl to the clear (consistancey problems from inexperience)said it may look too thick or have a haze .

If i was to put ghost flames , maybe just some blue pearl in clear , maybe with a hint of purple.thought about it actually, but decided to go with clean and simple.
sorry no pics of it in the sun as i have not had it out there yet.
