Paintdaddy, a little help plz.

Paintdaddy, I am about to paint my corvette. Its going to be painted with house of kolors Wild Cherry Kandy over Nova Orange. Do you know if the quanities they list for the mid size auto are enough.
They have 3 coats of galmour mettalic nova orange (6 quarts) and 5 coats of kandy (6 quarts). I am going over I white base with the nova orange, do you think it will take all six or do I need more.

I am painting the car completely top to bottom. Roughly how much paint does it take for 1 coat applied medium wet 50% overlap. I know it depends on the pigment in the paint.

Usually it takes about 1 mixed quart per coat.Since its candy I assume its going to be all together when you paint which makes it easier.When they list 6 quarts are they meaning mixed (ready to spray) or unmixed?You will also probably need to put some clear on it and make sure there is enough to sand and polish.

I assume they mean unmixed. They are calling for 5 coats of the candy. I am going to clear the car right after the candy goes on. What is your opinion on going over the first coats of clear with 500P wet and then flow coating another clear? The HOK tech manual says it gives you a show room finish you do not need to polish.

I would say that would be plenty of paint .You will probably have some left over but better that than not enough.Clearing it then sanding and reclearing is a good idea but I would still sand and buff when all is done.You will still get some trash in it ,its inevetible.With todays high solids paints ,they never want to buff completely flat.Sanding in between the clears would probably help to buff the final coat completely flat.
