Painting and body filler

Paintdaddy, I am stripping the paint off my corvette. I started with chemicals but then switched to a razor blade. The car has been painted before I can see the color under a couple of chips. It looks like it was epoxy coated (yellowish) and the red primer. The base coat and clear coat are coming off nicely and leaving me with primer. Should I start with a layer of epoxy again to seal everything up? Should I sand this primer layer before I apply epoxy? Should I get the old primer really smooth or scrape, block sand epoxy sealer, primer, block sand, etc..

Thanks
Mike

Strip scrape and/ or sand until you get it all down to a thin layer of redish brown primer. On the late c3s that primer is sometimes not there but probably will be.Then do what ever body work needs to be done and seal it with some epoxy primer and wait about an hour and apply some urethane primer filler/surfacer.If you think the body work is too rough or just want some good insurance, instead of urethane surfacer use some polyester surfacer (like feather fill) ,sand it with 100 or 120,then repeat the process using urethane surfacer and sand it with 220 then 400.Hope this helps
