OK, I have come to the conclusion that my new baby's interior has been altered. The tag on the door jam gives it the red interior, but the parts have been painted grey. Why in the heck? There are some places where the paint is coming up and it's red under there. Should I just live with it or try to bring it back? The carpet is grey. The white paint would be sweet with the red interior. As far as I can tell it's all orginal other than that.

Worth the $$ to change it back?

I did mine over the Holiday, Buy you a couple cans of Laquer thinner and wipe that old crap off, might have to do twice, and re spray it, I did mine cost me about $150 thae interior spray was about $12 a can LOOKS LIKE A PRO DID IT, JUST VERY TIME CONSUMING, IN THE REMOVAL,buy all new srews makes it look sweet. Give me an e-mail Ill send some pics

What about your seats? I had a '72 that was supposed to be red, but was dyed black, with the exception of the seats, which had been recovered in black leather. I just decided to leave well enough alone (and do the occasional touch-ups). The seats were nice and it would have been hard to justify the expense of recovering them.

Go for the repaint, I just finished redoing the entire interior (except the seats), including new door panels and center console of a 1973, but I think the thing that made the major difference was pulling and repainting all of the rest of the interior trim panels. With new carpet, the car looks brand new.

It looks like a complete color change. The carpet is gray and the seats were nicely done in gray fabric. It looks good, but my personal preference would be red. Maybe down the road I'll change it back. Not a priority right now.

I used the paint that is manufactured by Mid-America. Make sure you get the plastic cleaner, and clean the plastic several times. Any traces of silicone on the plastic from Armor-All or what not and you will get instant fish-eye. It worked quite well, and I was even able to touch it up in a couple of places easily where I scratched the part while trying to put the car back together. Get the primer too if you need to change colors.
