Has anyone tried painting their engine covers? I am considering doing mine body color using the GM aerosol body touchup paint. I guess the trick is proper surface prep and priming of the plastic to accept the paint. The body color engine covers I've found for sale seem very pricey, but maybe the price reflects how complicated it is to get paint to stick to these plastic covers.

Haven't tried it, but researched it on the forum. Some members have appeared to have good results. From what I can tell, you have to paint the parts with a primer made for flexible parts - I think GM sells it. Then the color can be applied followed by clear. I would wipe down each part first with denatured alcohol (not isopropyl).
