Painting Fiberglass Side Pipe Covers

Recently installed 69 style side pipes on my 78 with unpainted fiberglass covers. Need to paint the covers but I'm interested in comments on the use of VHT high heat primer and paint. The car is a driver so I'm not interested in a trailer queen finnish to the covers-just a decent functional appearance. Comments would be appreciated.

i had them last year for a bit,i painted them in a cast iron grey color with the top edge in black,with 3 1/2" pipes under them never turned color or peeled.

How big of a pipe will fit behind the fiberglass covers anyway?
