I've had a "spider" crack about 2 inches long in the center of my hood for quite some time and finally decided to do a self fix. Sanded, filled an primed yesterday. Painted today and you can no longer see the cracks. I still have to clearcoat but my question is do I wetsand BEFORE or AFTER clear coating?
The paint is an excellent match considering the age of the existing cracks and location of the repair but needs compounding and polishing still. I have 1000 and 1500 grit sandpaper but want to do the correct steps for that glossy finish.

Thanks for the help folks...:)

I would folllow the paint manufacturers directions directly off the can, since there may be time limits on the adhesion factors that can affect susequent applications. You may sand off the metallics on the color coat if you wet sand before clearcoat, and it won't look right. Typically there is a one hour window that you can apply following coats without sanding. Usually, there is no wet sand after the color coat.
Like I said, check the manufacturers instructions.

Thanks Pete,
I'll be clearcoating tomorrow and will wetsand following that. I'll post the results.....:)
