Question: Parking Brake

My parking brake in my 1996 Vette LT1 will not stay engaged. I can stop the car when I hold it up, but once I let go, there is no e-brake. The brake light on the dash comes up to let me know it is working, but once I let go of the brake, it disengages and the light shuts off.

Any ideas/ways to fix this?

May want to have a look at the brake's latching system. Lift the drivers-seat pad (to access) and lubricate the moving parts. Bit of oil on the release botton couldnt hurt.

No it doesnt make any ratchet noise, but I can hear the brake working in the left rear tire.
