part of learning to be a good machinist/mechanic, is learning what NOT to do!
as an EXAMPLE

Ive been married 35 years now and IVE ALWAYS REFUSED to wear a RING OF ANY TYPE, well when I was first married the NEW wife felt that I should wear a gold band, and over MUCH resistance I allowed her to buy one, about 1 week after starting to wear the ring,I managed to short out a battery to the ring and a wrench which partly cooked my ring finger, two days later I was closeing a heavy overhead garage door that had no spring assist when that damn ring snagged on the bottom latch bracket as the door which weighted well over 200 lbs was closing, I had to get several stiches, and I got a dislocated finger bone and the paramedics had to cut the now almost flat ring from a badly mangled finger...NOT FUN, LET ME TELL YOU!.I have NOT worn ANY RINGS for about 34 years 11 months now and IM NOT about to try again!

wearing TIES. loose clothes or BRACELETS,NECKLESSES, watches and RINGS around a machine shop is JUST ASKING FOR MISSING BODY PARTS!

no! that won,t work out either, I signed a LIFETIME CONTRACT ,and Ive already invested too much time, effort and money trying to train this wife! and since I like being married (MOST OF THE TIME) I think ILL KEEP HER!

Thanks Grumpy, for the safety reminders. I stuck it to the top of the forum to make sure everyone has an opportunity to review this subject. :CAC

I witnessed a person short out a wedding ring on a 24v system on a bus and I swear the ring turned white hot instantly, that person almost lost his finger. I told my wife at the time I was married that under no circumstance I would wear my ring while I work on cars or machinery, and gave her the reason to why it was dangerious.

Yep...Ken is an expert at remaining single...;LOL
Though well-meaning and gentle, his reputation inevitably precedes him, so Ken is a very lonely and feared little man.
