Anyone know where I can possibly buy aftermarket parts of those listed below at better prices?

These are from Ted Rice at Callaway:

Front Rotors: $325.62 each
Front Brake Pads: $262.35 set
Driver's Lens: $295.00 each
Turn Signal Lens: $330.00 each
Diaphram: $85.05 each

Parts?

The lenses are Callaway specific so there is no way of getting it cheaper. I remember reading somewhere that people were using a Hawk brake pad for the brembo . I dont remember the specifics though. the hats are a callaway only part .

Buchie, after extensive conversations w/ many folks today at Callaway, I came away with the distinct impression that many have re-invented the wheel trying to bypass the Callaway network.
Don't get me wrong, I am always looking for ways to keep the costs of cars down however, you may find yourself (as others have) paying the same or, more than if you had purchased from Callaway Cars to start with.
Some of the parts mentioned, are specifically for Callaway's, made by Callaway - I laid eyes on the tooling today and much of the cost is associated w/ the tooling , design, and research.

Please consider giving Callaway cars your parts business as they have stated that they are here to support the owners and honestly, some of their prices are better than a vendors (wastegate diaphram, for example)

>while on the subject, ANY hose can be made, ANY body piece can be made (or repaired) and as long as a vendor has not gone out of business - parts can be had however, if the part is no longer made due to that - Callaway cars can machine, cast, or mold most.

Should be able to get the pads from any Porsche dealership. Or get a cross reference to hawk pads using the Porsche as well. Just need to figure out the model and year the calipers were used on.

Rotors not sure, as different companies will use different hat mounting spacers.

After I went through this brake problem this past summer, spent a lot of wasted time. the Momoblocl calpiers are standard on Ferrari f350, Porsche twin turbo, and the F1, After calling all of them none of them had the pads, ( The F1 people would not even talk to me). Brembo no longer makes the pads for the calipers, so the only choice left is Hawk Performance and Ted got them for me , same part number as their Catalog. for a while I thought I was going to have to dump the Brembo's because I could not find any pads for them, Not sure about the rotors, but the experience with the pads I just let Callaway order them for me. the hats and fasteners are a Callaway only part

I think I may buy a set of turn signal lenses just in case.......

$350 for some plastic, but as Chris said, since the volume is so low, the high set-up cost has to go somewhere..... us.

I agree with what was mentioned in one of the earlier posts. After recently visiting Callaway and seeing the limited supply of available spare parts for the Twin Turbo cars... it's important that we all focus on spending $$$ with Callaway as much as we can. The only way anyone can run a legitimate business and inventory parts is if there is a steady stream of income derived from the sale of those parts.

There is no longer any development being done for any TT parts or upgrades from Callaway but if we focus on supporting them and purchasing through them this will keep the product line alive. Ted Rice, Scott and Mike Zoner recognize that they need to support us but there is practicality involved with it too. Basically, Callaway has to see the effects of our support by purchasing through them. This is the only way we're going to see on those hard to find parts (i.e. Aerobody lenses, turbo housings, etc.)

I heard the story on the amber -vs- clear lenses, and why the switch...

Apparently it was tens of thousands of dollars to develop an amber palstic to meet the standards for the lens, Callaway (Cars) went to a supplier and bought the excess of their plasic in that color, bunches of it - when it was gone, it was gone :eek
That is why the cars now have clear lenses w/ an amber bulb on the AeroBody cars :upthumbs

On a related note, Callaway Cars has introduced a new line of C4 parts for TT's and SNAT's and continue to support the current owners - Good stuff indeed :m

Folks,

After recently paying for a full engine restoration plus some upgrades, I can second, third, or fourth the above mentioned sentiment. At first it may seem that it is high cost, but when you start looking at the full job, their workmanship, the number of hours that go into just about any work, and the quality delivered, going to Callaway is well worth it. I am already planning what I might do next time my car is nearby.

I doubt you can find the lens as they are one of a kind design with a copyright I would bet. I just cleaned out my wallet and paid $1300 for a new set of 4 on my wife's 96 CE. The old ones were turning yellow?? Anyone think Callaway would warranty the yellowed ones from 96?

I think the somewhat disposable items have basic "Good Luck" warranty.. Once you take shipment-- they say "Good Luck" with it... You can call'em up and ask to see what is said.

In having them turn yellow-- that's interesting. Mine are original from early '89 and are still fine. They must've moved to a different polymer in the later kits. :confused

I've seen the silicone used to hold the clear lens in turning yellow but never the lens itself. Of course that's only my observation on the 30-40 aerobody cars I've looked at.

When you say four lenses that would be the front corner lights (signals) and the driving lights?

Callaway4Fun "dyed" or colored his leses amber like the original run of leses :cool
He used a ceramic type of dye and it looks absolutley perfect!!!
Just a thought - I too have seen the "silicone" yellow around the lenses but never the lens itself, hmmm...
Hope this helps :m

Just a note, if the plastic is yellowing from age/sun, you can oftentimes polish it out, or possibly wetsand it. If you are going to replace them anyway, it can't hurt to try this on the old ones.

I may give that a try its the 2 driving and 2 turns lens. They are all clear on the new models as 89x2 mentioned. It is just the sunlight aging them but some plastics hold up better than others....for example some of the wall plates in my house are different brands. The Leviton ones do not turn color after 5 years of sunlight but the no name versions did...
