Well I was home for the long weekend and decided to begin trouble shooting on why my passenger front parking lamp/turning signal is so bright. Here is the situation, when the lights are off, the turn signals get the same amount of power ( about .5 Volts) but as soon as either the parking lamps are turned on or the headlights are on the front passenger turn signal/parking lamp gets around 7 Volts. All other exterior lighting works fine, no other apparent problems except I still have that problem with the interior lights not wanting to go off... I checked all the wires from the front of the car to the firewall and they all are in good condition, none are worn or exposed that would cause a cross-short there. So now I'm just a bit stumped, I have a Chilton's manual with the wiring diagrams and another older Corvette book with WAY more detailed wiring diagrams that I have looked at but still not too sure what could be the cause. Could there be a problem with the headlight switch? Please let me know, I'd really appreciate any help!! Thanks!

There is a time delay module located by the glove box light wiring. It is supposed to keep the interior lights illuminated for 30 seconds or until the ignition is turned on. It is also supposed to come back on when you shut the ignition off.

The module might be messed up. Do a search for it in the forums...I know it has been discussed before!

Good luck!

Oh, ok!

Well, a thought about the signal thing is this: I know that the front side marker lights light up bright when you use the turn signal. Maybe it's getting the voltage that it's supposed to only get when the turn signal is active?

Also, I know that sometimes many signal bulbs have 2 filaments in them and need to be installed in a certain way. Sometimes if it is flipped around, it can cause funny things to happen, such as what you're describing...a bright light when it's supposed to be dim.

....Or a corroded bulb socket that allows both filaments to get power even though only one contact is being fed...bad grounds and corroded bulb sockets cause all manner of weird lighting problems.

That was the first thing i checked, the bulbs and the sockets. Both of them are in perfect condition. I'm gonna have to start checking the grounds this weekend and really find out what could be causing it to be lit so brightly but I still don't understand why it only does it when the parking lamps are on and headlights are on. With no exterior lighting on, they operate normaly.

Well just to let everyone know I fixed the problem with the turn signals and the interior lights. The signal problem was a bad ground on the turn signal assembly itself. The problem with the interior lights not going off was that the door jam switches were not making contact with the doors when they were closed. A few thin washers and problem solved, not everything is a okay. Thanks for all the help everyone!
