Performance chips in stock engine

I have seen many threads about Performance chips, and just got the latest Corvette Fever issue ( November 2005 ) and they have a reall good article called Intro to TPI 101. Its on page 26. I don't know the legality of pulling some of the text and posting it here. Ken or any other Admin know ? but basically they say if your engine is stock don't use them, accelerated engine wear will occur and poor mileage.

Well I don't see that anyone says it's illegal. if you want to post it you can just change a couple words. I doubt it's a problem though. If you're worried you could parpahrase stuff if you have questions.

I don't think there's a lot you could do with a chip in a stock C4 anyway. Change fan temp settings and a few other things is all.

From what I understand, as long as you don't pass the information as if you wrote it and you cite the proper source, you should be alright.

For a stock engine, I wouldn't put the money into a chip. For something with some internal mods, I would put the money into a custom chip, not one of the generic/mass burned chips such as a Hypertech. With basic mods such as an intake and exhaust, I don't think the computer will deviate far enough to constitute a need for a chip.

Almost all publications are copyrighted (for good reason). You might want to check the first few pages for the publisher info to see if there is some kind of statement about using direct text, quotes, etc. Rather than going through the hassle of getting permmission from a publisher, you could just paraphrase and put into your own words the main idea(s) of the article.
