An owner of an 88 Callaway Twin Turbo with a scant 3,500 miles on it, sent me a picture of his car today. I asked him to join our discussions here :w

He recently replaced those Gatorbacks with BFG's, as the tires are close to twenty years old now :W

:cool Wow! Pete will be having serious envy issues!! Can't tell for sure but it looks like car is running small cap distributor to clear intake?? Looking forward to hearing more about this car. :beer

Arnold, what are you seeing in the radiator? Is it the color in the photo?

Hi everyone, I just joined the group today. Those Gatorbacks are from my 88. Unfortunately, that picture was taken before I had a chance to take them off the car and thoroughly clean and protect them. The car sat in the previous owner's garage since 1992 and there's 16 years of discoloration and cobwebs on them in that picture! I've since taken the wheels off and cleaned them up. They even have the factory mold nubs intact! I'll take a picture of a clean one and post it.

The 100 Plus option was the first to be installed in kit form by an owner. I have a price sheet and the first ever (and maybe only) installation manual. I don't know why the distributer cap was changed, but I know the original owner and will ask. The radiator is a special copper one that was an option from Callaway as was the thermostat housing.

Welcome to the Callaway Forum.
Most copper radiators are painted black-I thought this was unusal that it was not painted. My 87 was upgraded after sold originally, (from aluminun to copper). It was painted black. The 88's came with a copper radiator when new. My 88 also came with the external thermostat. When I had some work performed at Callaway in the early 90's, They reccommended changing it back to the original internal (GM) design. Very nice looking Callaway engine. Lets see some more pictures of the car.

Welcome! :w

Our one 1989 came with the copper radiator and externat thermostat - I too, was advised to exchange the thermostat for a conventional one. The car runs MUCH cooler now. I will see if I can dig up the old thread on that subject :cool

Hey Arnold, here is another pic of KDickson's Callaway :upthumbs
