the car is BEAUTIFUL. Once again you have done a great job on the restoration of a classic Corvette.
Now, move down here to Delaware and teach me how to do such awesome work! :)

She is a beauty Ray. What a great restoration! Will she be going to Carlisle?

Ray,

Glad everything worked out OK for you first ride...car looks good, how did the heat do....I take it you did not have any heating problems....If there is any area that will have a problem first its these things overheat fairly easy... How did you carb work....every so often I have some issues with the car heats up on a long drive then stalls....but it is an adjustment in the carb...I think I have finally fixed it...too much fuel in the bowls.

Your SWC looks really nice...great job...can't wait to see it...

Collin

Thanks for all the compliments!

Barry: I hope to be retiring with in the next few years and our intent is to move your way. We have two daughters that live in Maryland. You buy the shop and I will work CHEAP!

Gary: I am not sure what car we will be taking down to Carlisle. I still need to find a room. I was hoping to find one North of Carlisle and drive the back roads there, even if it takes a couple days to get there. This will be the first time in six years that my shopping list is at a minimum and I will not need the truck to get the parts home.

Collin: The only carburetor problems at this point is the automatic choke sticks in the open position and after it was heated up and set for a short time (ten minutes) it took a few cranks to get it started. After a few minutes the view through rear split window did not both me, actually it is pretty neat looking through the split screen of the rear window.

Now to finish detailing and enjoy the summer driving season, if it ever stops raining here in WNY!

funny you should say that......... :)

where in MD are they? I used to live in MD also.
We are in Newark, DE and only about 15 minutes from the MD/DE border on I95 and about an hour or so north of Baltimore.

My wife and I moved into our currect home about 4 years ago. I have since learned to HATE this house and especially HATE, HATE, HATE the neighborhood (way too many deed restrictions here) and neighbors.......... don't ask............. !

I hoping that in another year or so I'll be in a better position to sell this place and find another. When we bought here it was basically what I was looking for - a big house, big rooms, and a decent sized fenced in lot so we could get a dog. It was also an improvement that I went from a one-car garage to a 2-car garage.

Since I got my '65 and than recently started doing my own work on her, than I got the '78 project car and did a lot more extensive work on that one I've learned I really like working on these older cars.

I now what to sell this house, and find another one. The house can easily be a lot smaller than this current one but I want a much larger garage space to allow me to work on other cars. I'm thinking a minimum of a 4-car garage, although a 5 car would be even better. That would allow 2 bays to allow room for body-off restorations and repair work on my cars, two bays to keep "toys" stored, and an additional bay for misc crap like lawn tractors, mowers, and all the other "stuff" that you normally have to keep in a garage.
i'd be thrilled to not have any neighbors within a mile of me if I could....... ;LOL

If I could get a set-up like that than I'd really have to learn how to work on my own cars. :)

well, we can all dream can't we?

I have been a little preoccupied sorry I did not respond sooner with your first ride post.

I was searching the archive looking for your early post on this car to get a time frame of how long this one took you to complete. If my memory is correct this one came together in under a year (is this correct)

Well congratulation on your completion, and I guess the big question is whats next? I am sure your garage walls look naked with out any parts hanging from them.

Hi! Barry

My daughters live in Frederick Md. I hope to start looking for some retirement property with in the next few years. My wife and I went to the 50th Corvette Anniversary in Nashville and really enjoyed the people and the area. I think we are going to look in that area first.

Hi! Larry:

I purchased the 63 in April 2004. I started tinkering with it during the winter but didn't start the project until spring of 2005. I knew the frame would need a little work and I have a friend that teaches welding that was going to help with the repairs. The frame was well camouflaged and was very rusty so I decided to replace it. With the lead times on the new frame, that cost me about two months. Did not receive the new one until September and thats when the full restoration started.

The shop is a mess!! I was shooting for a completion date of June 22, and working non stop on the restoration (with your projects, I am sure you know the feeling). We have a great super cruise that will display 350 to 500 cars. Needless to say I didn't make it. So to day is shop cleaning day and you are right, the shop seems very empty.

I haven't been able to find a quality project. The prices for major basket cases have gone through the roof, so I guess I will just enjoy the cars I have and hope something turns up. I also need to complete our house project. I moved an C.1825 home over six miles and restored it to it's original condition. I had the pine siding and trim boards cut and have had it stickered for a year (should be dry by now or that is what I have been telling my wife). My wife wants the house done so any future car projects will have to wait, she actually bought a pick-up full of paint yesterday, so I guess I will take the hint.

The barn and the doors are new(five years for the first section and second year for the addition). I have been collecting old strap hinges for years. I sort of mess up in the paint department so I can be told "Let me do it you are too messy"

Ray,

Just a quick thanks for posting the pics... the SWC is my favorite Corvette, bar none. The fact that yours is white and a 340hp makes it that much sweeter. Thanks for the pics and you obviously do great and detailed work.

I'm an admirer,

kdlp

Hi Ray,

The car looks great but I was wondering: when can I come over for some chicken and ribs? Fire up that BBQ!!!

greetings,
Rob.

Hi! John

It sure makes the restoration process easier when you and others take the time to answer all the restoration and repair questions that we armature restores ask.

Hi! Rob

We will fire up the BBQ any time you and others are in the area. The sign is an original advertising sign from a Rt 66 California restaurant and it is made from redwood. Someone hauled it from California to Connecticut where we purchased it at a flea market. I always wanted to drive on Rt 66 with a Corvette, but I find it easier to just pull in the barn at the end of a Corvette outing and have the feeling that I am now parking on Rt 66.

Ray

Hi Ray,

Whenever you decide to make that route 66 tour give me a call and I'll fly in immediately and volanteer as co-driver. Don't worry I'll bring in the cheese and Heineken beer for the road (to consume after a days long driving)!!!

Very nice, Ray. Chuck

The car looks great Ray! As others have said, you do really nice work. I sincerely feel that one of the best parts of owning these cars is doing your own work on them and thoroughly enjoying the finished product.

Hope to meet you and see some of your projects in person one day.

Take care,
Brian & Jane
