hellow fellow corvette fans,
I came across this site today www.pistonslap.com .after reading it im thinking of taking the vette in just to be safe.i get a ticking noise for about 6min after start up and then it goes away.i tried techron but it did not help.my GMPP expires in oct.should i make a issue out of this or leave it alone? just dont want the moter to self distruct down the road.i have an 02 A4 with 7k

Yes make an issue!

The original owner of my 2000 made it an issue and had the LS1's ring job completed under warranty.

My buddy at work with a 2000 raised cain with the dealer and it got fixed as well. The pulled the bottom end out and replaced the rings under warranty. Been doing fine ever since...I don't know that his was having the noise problem so much as it was using oil...

I mean, get all the facts, piston slap HAS NEVER CAUSED A RELIABILITY ISSUE.
Get over it and move on.
Oil consumption and pistons slap do NOT have a direct correlation, Only makes it more pronounced. Carbon buildup occurs because these engines run so cool in the cylinder that the carbon will buildup due to the garbage fuel formulations that are out there.
You want to blame someone, talk to the EPA.
I have piston slap on GM, ford, BMW and others, so get over it. and NOT ONE engine has failed.

Hasn't happened to me. If you are concerned about abnormal wear, do what aviation does and take an oil sample and have it analysed by a lab. Cut open the filter and inspect for metal.

Get it diagnosised and taken care of before your gmpp runs out. Thats what the policy is for. I've heard piston slap before. you dont want it. And the colder it is, the louder it is. It's not the noise's you want coming from under your hood.

its a relief hearing that piston slap is not a reliability issue
