Any News on the Wheel Pitting situation?

I just bought a 2002 Red Coupe and the inside of the wheels are pitted. I have not yet brought the car to a dealer; however, I plan to soon.

Thanks.

Greg

FYI

It took quite some time, but GM OK'd new polished rims. By the time they figured shipping both ways and repair costs, it was only about 25.00 more for new rims. They called me today with the good news. The service manager was so excited, he had already ordered the wheels, and they are in and waiting for me to pick up.

Chuck :)

Don't hesitate. It takes time to go through the logistics of it all. They wanted to send my wheels out as soon as I showed them. Didn't want to tie up the car last Fall and I didn't believe they could be polished anyways.

This Spring, I figured that if I didn't move on this, the mileage would start adding up and they would use THAT as an excuse. It was time to give them the oportunity to prove me wrong.

The company that polishes wheels told them they couldn't bring the wheels back to original. Only then did GM decide to replace them. It cost them 3 weeks rental and the cost of shipping the unrepaired wheels both ways as well as aggrevating both the service manager and myself. If they would have just done it in the first place, GM would have saved hunderds of dollars. The GM service rep has egg on his face for this one! He had the "I know better than you" attitude. Makes me wonder how many times they do this (what a waste of man power and money)!!!

Good Luck Greg.

Chuck

Since my wheels have been replaced I have put about 17,000 miles on my car without a single pit on a wheel.

Someone said in an earlier post that there may have been a bad batch of wheels. I am inclined to agree.

Thanks
