In order to better gain an overall idea of how to advise on this board, I'd like to know how often, in general, you wax your 'vette. I am really looking for those who drive their 'vettes somewhat regurlarly.

If you have a show 'vette and you wax it before shows it would be helpful if you did not answer this survey.

Show or no show, NCRS meet or no meet - twice per year. I use Meguiars Final Inspection the rest of the time. Since my car is just a fair-weather driver in the northeast, I didn't vote.

I've always tried to wax my cars every three months for as long as I can remember. The Vette however gets a quick detailer spray wax almost everytime it's out but it's a fair-weather car. I voted every 3 months.

Daily Driver

I use Carnauba about every 3-4 months, when the smooth feeling begins to feel gritty.

I hope you live in farthest north part of North Dakota and only ever drive your 'Vette in the early morning hours of summer!

I didn't vote as I show my Corvette so it gets polished (not waxed!) very often. Still, it's interesting to see how often folks do...or don't...wax their Corvettes.

Not enough choices on there for me. My other cars get waxed twice a year, paint scrub once a year. The vette has been waxed twice in two and a half years. And the water still beads up since it's in the garage most of the time. Others with white cars can back me up on this, even on the hottest days, the paint surface is downright cool to the touch even thought the chrome may be blistering.

My vette is a daily driver. It sees rain and road grime on a regular basis. She gets washed AT LEAST once a week. If the weather is nice it will get done twice. During the nicer months of the year I use Wax as you dry every time I wash the car. Usually using a profesional grade wax once a week. Nothing sticks to the finish, its like teflon! :L
If the weather is too hot, I'll take it to the local car wash/detail shop and have it washed and waxed there. Before you flame me for taking a vette through the car wash, I used to work at full service car wash, and with a few exceptions I'm sure, there is less chance of the finish being scratched when going through a car wash than there is hand washing it in the drive way. You just have to shop around and find a wash that uses high quality fabrics in the tunnel.

My 64 stays clean and rarely will see bad weather. It stays in the garage and gets polished, not waxed, before a show(almost every weekend in the summer show season). I did put down a good wax job about two years ago, it has only been preshow polish since.

Could you explain to me what you mean by polishing?

I use the Detail Spray on a regular basis. I have a killer shine and have not touched it with a wax in over 2 years.

Well, that is the act of polishing your car. But you aren't actually using a polish on it. I will be posting some interesting stuff on waxing over the weekend. I think you'll find it to be interesting.

I attend cruise in on Saturday AND Sunday nights I use quick detailer before I go, been doing this for about five years now, once a year i use dawn soap and remove all the quick detailer and then put a good coat of wax on her

My car is garage kept and only driven April-November in good weather. I wax my car once a year and use the Qwik Detailer or other similar product on it at least once a week during the driving season. Last year I used the clay bar system on it and was extremely happy with the results.

That poll could go on forever I pay to have mine done once or twice a month only because I am to lazy to do it my self but they use clay bar and buff it with wax for $75.00 it is worth every cent they do a good job for 100 they will stem clean the carpets too.

I am moving to Cali so I can detail your car! Twice a month? Man I need 50 clients like you!

I chose once every 4 months even though it's more like once every 6 months to once every year.

However, I keep my Vette indoors away from the elements and don't drive it in the rain unless I happen to get caught in it. I normally keep the car clean with Meguiars Quick Detailer and 100% Terrycloth towels made in the U.S.

Tony,

If your Black 85 lived on my street I would wax it for you just for the feel-goods. Get your big, ugly, lazy butt out there and do her a favor! She's probably pretty good to you.

I went back to black on my current vette
and am using a hand crafted wax called
Lusso Oro it is made by the same folks
who developed some retail high end and
priced wax. It is refined white carnuba
and is great for reds, black and darker
colors. It is the best I found over 18
years of driving and caring for Corvettes.
check it out at LUSSO ORO.COM Met
the principals at the NCRS Orlando winter
meeting. Same people who sold the formula
to what is called Pinnacle wax at 60.00
a tub. Buy it from them for 25.00 same
stuff different lable.
