Pop the trunk

Same problem here. I got fed up & built this : www.C5TrunkPopper.com

I got tired of opening & closing the door, adjusting latches, strikers, lubing hinges, nothing seemed to work. A little spring fixed it, now pops up an inch.
Good idea. Is there any protection recommended for the inside side of the trunk? Do you think in time it will wear away at the fiberglass?

The spring screws to the metal latch bracket, it doesn't touch the fiberglass at all. The bottom of the spring is a smooth nylon cap, it rests on the carpeted trunk latch area - is your setup different ?

No, should be about the same if I recall.

I've also read that a little fresh lube on the hinges works wonders although I haven't tried it yet. :)

I lubed my 04, went from 1/4 to 3/4 inch just from lube (white grease).
