ported tpi hp?

You could probably get somewhere in the 350-400 (crank) range with everything ported, and a full exhaust and the right cam.

Just porting the stock 86 parts, you could maybe get a little over 300.

what exactly is porting?

taking a dremel or whatever to your intake manifold or heads, and making all the holes bigger

a shop would use a CNC machine to drill the holes out usually

My L98 is just over 330HP.(+/-280rwhp) Every thing from nose to tail ported and polished, 52MM TB, big tubes and matching manifold, mild cam, re-worked heads, roller rockers, 2000RPM stall torque converter, custom chip and custom exhaust. The motor idles ok at 850 RPM and has ungodly torque from idle until it runs out of air at 5800RPM.

I think this is about the max you can expect with the TPI.

I tried the MiniRam; it was like a different engine. The power was awesome but the power band was moved up so high that the gearing and torque converter would have to be changed to make the extra power useable.

TPIS in Minnesota sells ported head for $1200 or so with an exchange.

I think that the MiniRam was made more for the 6 speed vehicles than the 4 speed auto's since the gain is in the higher end of the curve.
