Ported vacuum or manifold vacuum??results

You want ported vacuum that is zero at idle then comes on when the throttle blades are cracked open off idle.

On my Q-Jet, that is front, passenger side of the carb.
 
There is a vacuum port for the PCV under the secondary vacuum actuator, a port on the base (manifold), and a port on the primary metering block passenger's side. That is the port you want your advance hooked to.
Otherwise you'll be running into problems with your vacuum advance messing with your idle.

WoW..thats a great pic of the situation..thanks. And Yep thats the one Ill be connecting to ..off the primary metering block passenger's side.:D

PS ..looks like Ill have the distributor in by tue-wed. Ill post what happened with the install when finished
