Positraction (or not) in a 69?

Hi Everybody,

I just finished a complete replacement of the original 35-year-old parking brakes. They were completely rusted and frozen - including the cables. What a chore!... I hope don't have to do that again for a long time.

While I had my car on jack stands, I noted that only the right wheel rear spins. When I accelerated, the left wheel would make intermittent movements. Is this a limited slip diff (since both wheels weren't spinning)? I guess I was presumptuous in thinking I had a positrac rear. I thought that all Vettes had posi rears. Oh well....

Mikey,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I found out that in 1969, the positraction option for Corvettes (all ratios) was $46.35. The orig owner went for no frills, because there are none! That's ok, I still love her (the car, that is!!).

I went ahead an purchased a Corvette 4.11 "pumpkin" that came out of a 1969 w/a 4 speed (this is definitely a positrac). I won't be able to get it installed until after the holidays.

Anyone interested in brand new 3.70 gears... I'll post in the items for sale section as I don't need em anymore.
