Power seat in 1994 problems

Does anyone have a suggestion how to fix or a source for replacement parts? On the drivers side power seat on my 94 convertible, it goes up and down, but when I try to move it forward or back it sounds like gears stripping. I read some of the other comments and someone mentioned there are 3 seperate motors??? The dealership wants $600 for a replacement motor and that is a bit too spendy. Thanks all

try the drive cables first. if its making a noise the motor is probably moving.

Also Ecklers makes remanufactured seat bottoms for a reasonable price.
