Power Steering fluid on floor

Jesse, no I don't think so. I've had a very small leak for quite some time. I always thought it was engine oil, even though I never had to add any between changes. The other day, after moving the car around a bit. I find a big puddle, after about an hour and a half of sitting in one spot. Then putting it back on the lift I checked it a few days later and there's another big puddle in the drip pan and my reservoir is way low. I wish you were closer I'd have brought it to you to fix it.

After fixing mine, you would have to fill that car up with young virgins before you bought it to me. :L

You might check out the reservoir,I had to replace mine about 6 months after the warranty ran out.
It had a crack near the bottom in a molding seam and would leak sometimes, sometimes not.:hb
Fluid ran down the bottom side of the hose and then dripped on the ground, hose has a plastic wire loom around it and is hard to see where it's coming from.:thumb

Thanks Jesse. The place I took it to said that they would check it out and let me know what the problem is. Surprisingly, I feel pretty confident with these guys. I told them to make sure it wasn't the pump or the reservoir, that both of those were a fairly common problem. They are changing out the high pressure hose as well.

The high pressure hose is good on average for about 5 years.

Apparently the rack and the pump are leaking. Rack more than pump. I think I am going to have both replaced. Does someone know the part number on the pump?

You have the same year car as mine. I bought this one from A1 Cardone because it's not a foreign made piece of crap.

They ordered the rack from Zip and have the pump on order as well. Total quoted price was $1176 + 4wheel alignment. Rack, pump, flush system (obviously) and labor. I am just ready to have it done, even though I can't drive for a couple more weeks.

Got the car back today, boy am I glad. New rack, new pump, new high pressure hose, new pump pulley and fresh 4 wheel alignment. A little over $1200. Doesn't really feel any different, but it is way cleaner. Mechanic said they spent some time cleaning it all up under there, and I believe him. Once I got it home and on the lift it was obviously cleaner and drier than it was before.

I'm a happy camper.

I'm thinking it was kinda tough getting in and out of the car with your knee being sore. Glad you got it fixed........the car I mean....and the knee.......which I'm sure was a lot more than 1200 bucks.......:thumb

Yea Marcus, it was a little challenging getting in and out, but the knee is getting better. The bills are starting to come in for the knee, and yes it was a little bit more than $1200. :rotfl

Wow, $1200 smackers! Man, that's high! So why did they replace the pump pulley?

They broke it while taking it off. I even left the new puller for them to use. Don't know if they used it or not. But at least it is done. I could not have done it before my surgery, and no way could I have done it until after school started because of my new knee.

They obviously didn't use the pulley you left them! I had fun removing mine but that's why I went so slow. I manage not to work while frustrated and break anything.

By the time I found out about the pulley, the damage was done and I didn't even bother asking them if they had used my special puller. I told them whe I left the car there that the puller was there and they were more than welcome to use it.;shrug
