Power steering issue

Don't run the pump dry. It will start making noise when the reservoir empties, so shut it off then.

Don't turn the steering wheel without fluid in the system, especially if the tires are on the ground, it will overstress the steering assist valve.

If the tires are off the ground, still don't do it?

It's always best to have fluid in the system when you actuate the steering. Of course the force on the steering assist valve will be minimal when the car is on jackstands if you do turn the steering wheel. But to be on the safe side, I would not.

The caution is turning the wheels with the engine running right? Once I kill the engine, it would be safe?
Thanks again, :)
