Hi,

My newly aquired 81 350 seems to be missing some power steering pump bracket hardware. The pump while attached to the pivot bracket is not in alignment with the drive pulleys.:ugh

I think there is a spacer or a bracket missing. Are these parts common SBC parts? ie. The kind I'm likely to find at a local boneyard?

Thx in advance
Steve

Thanx very much Allan.

That diagram is exactly what I needed..Well to start with anyway. I'm trying to obtain a factory service manual. Haynes doesn't do detail.

It would appear that the (missing)#1 bracket would bring my pulleys into alignment. Anybody know if this is a common SBC part? (or not)

Now that I see what it looks like I can go hunting thru the boxes of extra parts I got with the car or if that fails then off I go to a local boneyard.

Ah the joy of being a (vintage)Vette owner. ;)

Later,

Steve

*MINE* is CHROME PLATED!!!

...but you two don't even HAVE ONE!!!

;LOL

(Sorry....I'm just evil.....)

In fact, not only is my #1 CHROME PLATED, but so is my #13, my #7, my #6, my #10 and EVEN my #11 & my #12!!!

(Not only THAT - but MY PS hasn't even been CONNECTED IN FIFTEEN MONTHS!!!! :L )

OK, I'm a monster....I'll quit now....

A number of places carry such bracketry.

I haven't seen this on other SBC setups, although the spacing is more similar to other SBC's than, say the water pump and main pulley.

I just got two new pulleys from Volunteer Vette, and they wree the only people who had them in at the time. Corvette America and Central Corvette have some excellent supplies and of course MidAmerica and Eklers (one of which is a CAC sponsor, IIRC) have such parts for not too much. All of these have on line catalogs - and that diagram Alan from VBP looks like one from either CA or CC. (BTW, I have yet to install one of those nifty SS lined PS cylinders of theirs I've had for over a month.)

Yah! P.O. found my missing bracket.

:D :beer :D

Return call from PO said he found my wayward PS Pump Bracket in a box with last years lawn mower repairs.. doh :W Better late than never.
For the price of a phone call.

Even better, he found the other (missing) T-top sleeve.

That's two(2) down and ?# to go.

Now to see if the darn power steering works.

Wish me luck.
Thanks y'all for your thoughtful advice. :w
