My power window regulator motor has gone bad. The window is suck in the halfway. In-order for me to replace the motor I have to lock the window in the full up position. Does anyone know how I can get the window up to that position when the motor does not roll it up? I have tried to pull it up and it's a no go.

Buckskin... Since no one else has replied I will take a stab at this. I called my C3 mechanic, he said you HAVE TO get that motor off. Use as many different sockets, extensions or swivels as you need. There are 3 bolts holding it on. There is no other way to remove the tension without removing the motor. He said with a lot of perseverance and patience you can get these off even if the window is all the way down, he has done it several times. If you cannot remove the motor (you won't like this), smash the glass or drill holes in the door (not sure if he was joking when he said this).

Perhaps others have a better solution, but this advise was from a proven professional. Good luck.

Same thing just happened to my '73, window quit halfway down. After you get the door panel off take off the access panel near the bottom of the door. You can reach in behind the regulator and motor assembly and remove the 3 bolts mentioned above. It seems hard until you have cursed at it and messed around long enough to figure it out. Getting it lined up when going back in with it is a bit tricky but it is do-able with a little patience.

Let us know what you find. Mine had the brushes worn out. I bought some that were too big from a local alternator shop, ground them down to fit inside the square guides and slapped it back in there. Had it going again in no time.

Good luck bud...

hello all., when you do get the motor out you will most likely find the brushes worn and the armature will stink like burnt rubber. i would suggest a new motor assembly. i found mine from a rebuilder in ft. lauderdale for $56 plus shipping . sorry i cannot provide the site. however if you do a search for window motors you may also find someone in your area.
also pay close attn to the regulator. they wear and cause stiction in the operation , then wear out the motor.

hope this helps
