Just fitted a new Truflex front bumper and need to get it painted. Should I sand it myself or have the paint shop do the whole job?

(Actually it looks kinda OK with the black shiny finish - seems a pity to mess it up by sanding and painting :L )

John,

I'm in the process of doing mine, my paint shop told me to block sand it down until the glass just starts to appear and to use 80-100 grit paper. Don't worry about the scratches from the coarse grit, it'll be filled in by the primer and then finish sanded. The reason for sanding is to expose any air bubbles that might be trapped in the gel coat. Note: I would check with the person that's going to paint yours, he might not have the same procedure, that's what my shop wants. I sanded my a** off for a couple of weekends and filled my garage with dust! What a mess, do it outside with the wind blowing toward the neighbors yard.:)

Good luck Bill
