Do I access the bulbs through the speedo and tach covers?..It's not in the book.:confused:confused

The bulbs are accessed from the back side of the gauges. I have not had a need yet to pull the speedo or tach yet but I'm sure it's just like the center gauge cluster.

You may be able to reach it if you lie down on the floor board and reach behind the dash. I was able to squeeze behind there when I was working on my brake booster and saw that the bulb sockets were reachable. Granted this was a 75 but it might be feasible on yours too.

Well...I'll try reaching up in there first , and if that doesn't work, then the covers are coming off....:beer

What a Mess......I took off the tach/speedo lens and then the face plate.GREAT!There are the bulbs.....They are recessed about 3", so I took it to my friend to use his bulb removal tool...He took it upon himself to take them out...BUT..He twisted it first..He got the bulb, but the socket fell behind the cluster:mad....He pushed in the next 2 and they came out w/o incident.....Well needless to say, i'm pissed.I have to drop the steering column now to get at it.....I'm going out for a few drinks.:beer.Tomorrow is another day.

Ok...it was the bulbs that were burnt out...After dropping the steering wheel and pulling out the instrument cluster, I had just enough room to get my hand in to replace the socket, which by the way , took an hour to find.Come to find out , the directional indicator lights stay on when the headlights are on, (but they don't blink unless I hit the lever, R or L)Are they supposed to stay on when the headlights are on?.Another Question....How do I stop the directional indicator lights from staying on constantly when the headlights are on, if they aren't supposed to be? They are only supposed to light when the lever is pushed either right or left, aren't they?
All back together now....Learning by experience is not the best or fastest way to do things , but you definitely learn the most by it.
