Hello group! I was thinking about putting a ATI procharger or simular on my 81. The engine is pretty healthy as is im looking to get into the 11s if possible. As it stands now my best pass was a 12.59 @ 110 mph just wondering if its worth the cost and if im going to have a hood clearance issue.

I believe all the superchargers run into a problem with the upper A arms. The distance between the hood and A arm is just too small.
The problem with superchargers is low end grunt is NOT there. The are RPM dependent and need revs to build boost. At 3000 you have very little boost. If you want full boost you have to just about redline the motor.
A roots type blower puts out full boost at any rpm. With overdrive your revs are way below any usefully rpm for the supercharger but the roots blower doesn't care about rpm and even cruising at 1500 rpm the roots blower will put out it's maximum boost if asked.
Whipple to my has the ultimate setup for boost and low installed height.
While I run a 8-71 right now I will someday switch to whipple and it's fuel injection at the same time.
