Hey guys again,
Thank you so much for your welcoming response on my last post. I have yet to acquire my owners manual from the original owner and so I am unknowing about this remote programming procedure I keep hearing about. I just replaced the battery, and still no workie. Can anyone walk me through that? I have so much to learn about this rig.....

I don't know about a '99 but all I have to do to re-sync my remotes with the car is simply hold down *both* the lock and unlock buttons for 7-10 seconds and it syncs back up. The cars horn will toot if it works.

Try the procedure from above. If the transmitter it brand new to the car it will need to go through the full match procedure. For a battery change the above procedure will work just fine. If this doesn't work here is the excerpt from the owners manual.

To match transmitters to your vehicle:
1. Turn the ignition key to ON.
2. Clear any warning messages on the Driver
Information Center (DIC) by pressing the
RESET button.
3. Press the OPTIONS button on the DIC several times
until the blank page is displayed, then press and hold
the RESET button for two seconds.
4. When the message FOB TRAINING is displayed,
push the RESET button once. The message
HOLD LK + UNLK 1ST FOB in the DIC will
be displayed.
5. Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on
the transmitter simultaneously for 15 seconds.
6. When a transmitter is learned (matched), the DIC
will display FOB LEARNED and then prompt you
to learn the next transmitter.
7. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 for each additional transmitter.
8. Remove the key from the ignition.

If interested I have the 99 owners manual in PDF format that I could email to you. It's about 3MB.

Hey thanks so much! That actually worked! I just had to do the push both buttons for ten seconds thing and it works just fine now.
And Hey Leon, if you could email that owners manual you have to me that would be outstanding ! I would appreciate it greatly!

Hi Leon. :w

I wanted to add my THANKS to you for your instuctions on reprogramming of the C5 key fob. The instructions you gave were clear and consise and easy to follow. I'm having an issue with my key fob too. It keeps losing the signal or memory and frequently has to be relearned. By frequently I mean at least every couple of weeks and sometimes twice in one day. I've taken the key fobs by the local Chevy dealer to have the batteries checked - no issue there. Sometimes the system will not reprogram on the first try. It's as though the sensor doesn't "see" the key fob when both buttons are pushed. I have to leave it awhile and then try again later.

Any suggestions or ideas as to what may be causing this problem? I would appreciate any help you could offer.

I had a similar problem with my remote and I replaced the remote and all was good. There's a chance that it's also the RF module in the car. I was fortunate that my neighbor also has a 99 FRC so I just borrowed his remote for testing that showed the car communicated fine. Bought a new transmitter and all was good. If you do a search for transmitter issues in this forum it should turn up a number of good reads. Good luck!

And thanks for the compliment on the '95 vert. I really loved the car when I first got it but have really noticed the body flex and roll as compared to the C5. It still looks great coming down the rode though. I will only hold on to it until I replace it with something newer. The goal is a C6 vert in a couple years. :D
