Progress Report - Dec.12

I pulled out the title, and guess whose name I found on it.

So I guess the wife said red huh

Gheez, 67...now I will have to paint mine another colour so the local constabulary don't stop me...when they are looking for you next summer:D

All kidding aside....I LOVE the colour:cool

Fuelie,

I'll be a sweet little
smiley-angel.gif
behind the wheel.

Well, occasionally I might be
smiley-good-evil.gif
but that will be the very rare exception. :D

Brian, let's get together for some Christmas cheer soon.
:m

Thanks OL BLUE. The shop has a good reputation and did a 62 for the DIY (Do It Yourself) show. I found another shop that is setting up a plastic booth and he offered me to use the booth and just pay for materials if his people could watch. I'll be experimenting with the process but would feel more comfortable doing it myself.

Car looks great. I'm jealous and wish I had the money to have someone do mine. Can't wait to see more pics.:)

Bob,

You should have come by today....you could have helped me shovel my driveway. That would have "cheered "me up:D

Seriously, you are right, we need to get together soon.....besides, I want to see your car!

By early next week (22nd or 23rd), we should be ready to perform the final body drop.

Willing hands will be welcome. I'll try to schedule it for when a few more are available.

A few weeks ago, four of us man-handled the body back on, but paint was a non-issue at that time. This time I'd like to position four guys down each side, glove them with my special 'body-lift' gloves and do the deed.

Bob,

Count me in to help out. I have done a bunch of body drops.

As long as it is not during my work hours........;)

Bob,

Looks great....i am glad you got away from the black....i will try and pry Flav away from family life and come up for a visit...just let me know when she's home......

Mike,

Maybe you, Flavio and Fuelie would be available this Saturday morning......the 20th.

If all goes as planned, I'm dropping the painted body back on the chassis then, and would appreciate some willing hands.

It looks as though final paint goes on Thursday or Friday.

Are you available?

Heaven,

Good luck on the body drop, I kept looking back here and on your site for the paint pics, now I know I will have to wait a couple more days.

Good Luck,

Tom McCAbe

Hey 67, I can't wait to see that thing this spring, I hope you bring it out to some of the local events.

I'm in Pickering, a stone's throw away.

Nice job...

Mart

Mike (1BAD69), Flavio (SuperFast80), Brian (Fuelie):

It looks like body-drop day won't be until Tuesday (the 23rd). Since it will then be during a regular workday, I'll be able to round up enough people from neighbouring businesses to do the deed.

Too bad. I would have enjoyed having Corvette guys do it with me. :( Thanks to each of you for your willingness to participate.

Here's the schedule as it stands now (subject to minor changes):

Thu., Dec. 18th (tomorrow)
- final topside sand; re-drilling of hood numeral and rear script holes and final inspection

Fri., Dec. 19th
- (am) taping off and covering of entire underside to prevent over-spray; (you should see the black and coated pieces riveted under there :eek)
- (pm) spray red base-coat

Sat., Dec. 20th
- apply hood stinger outline-stencil;
- spray black stinger

Mon., Dec. 22nd
- spray clear-coat

Tue., Dec. 23rd
- (am) buff out and inspection
- (pm) drop body on chassis and flatbed home
- (evening) get hammered :beer Sorry, but it's been a real adventure to get this far. :D

This schedule allows only the half-day 24th of December for hiccups to achieve the home-for-Christmas plan. :crazy

P.S. You volunteers are still welcome on Saturday, if for nothing else but a gander at what is going on.

67 Heaven,

Jane and I will be over to check it out on saturday. I can't wait to see it the car in colour:D

Sorry to hear that the drop will be moving to the 23rd.......I have to work that day:cry

I played hookey today and spent hours final sanding.

Revised Schedule

Fri., Dec. 19th

Now I understand how a woman feels when she gives birth.

I have been intimately involved with every aspect, every part, every decision, every nook and every cranny on this project. I've pulled off, inspected, refurbished or replaced every part of this car. I've removed and examined every nut and every bolt.

On the night before final paint, I am thrilled, but mentally and physically exhausted, and surprisingly somewhat melancholy.

Melancholy????? Yes. Although there are a great many parts to install, beginning next week, the grunt work - the up-to-the-elbows in greasy and grimy parts - is over. The major decisions have been made and to a great extent carried out.

In spite of the fact that there are still 5 months to go in the plan, I'm already thinking about the next project. :D

No, 67HEAVEN is not, and will not be, for sale.

'Heaven,

Hope that all went well today, and good luck for tomorrow.

Can't wait to see the pics, the engine page is still vacant, did you decide on a powerplant yet?

Tom
