Project GSII gets new brakes also included few "spypics"

Finally the new brakes arrived from PBC. I very satisfied with the quality and the weight loss vs. stock cast iron brakes is significant. It also means less unsprung weight, which in my book is always a big plus.

I got 6-piston Willwood Superlites in front and 4-piston Willwood Forget Billet Dynalites at the back. The rotors are cross drilled and slotted all around in 13" diameter. The 2 piece design makes them much lighter than stock rotors.

I have smoothed out all the welding seams of the frame, it has taken quite a bit of time, these shots are not the lates ones, but will give you an idea what I'm talking about.

I also have the 5-link mods done. It sure works well now.

Nice brake set up,Thats like what I want to use on my 62,

I just could not get past the cost of them,

I would think the peice you made is a replacement crossmember .

I take that back it cant be the cross member as it looks too long.

If we were talking trucks I would say it a light rack

Here's two more pics showing what the brace is for:

This shot from the bottom. I replaced the flimsy stock birdcage cross bar with this piece I made. Note how I notched the pedal assemly area and all the original bolt holes are in the original places.

Another view... The whole birdcage now feels A LOT more solid, I'm sure it'll feel even more so when I get the roll bar in place.

When i restore a car i normally "restore a car" I mean I do every nut and bolt and just about every thing that can be taken off a car is taken off and re-newed , You sir bring new meaning to taking a car completely apart.

I am now thinking I dont do a complete restoration after seeing this

Thanks for the kinds words guys. I'm currently working on two other mid years as well. Both have had major rust problems in the birdcage and it is a real PITA to fix them.

I'm going start putting the bodypanels back on next weekend, to be honest I'm feeling quite excited about this one with the 481ci small block and two turbos and fully tricked out suspension it will be "something else"
