1982 collectors edition
Hello
Can anyone please help.
The prom on 1982 collector which the ECM is 1225550.
I can't find where the pins go on the PROM.
What I have is a PROM with a broken pin and if I can find a pin with a no-connect.IE spare or open pin,I can use it to replace the broken one.
Thanks, Jim

I do not understand what you are asking? A PROM is a Programmable Read Only Memory IC (Integrated Circuit). The PROM that plugs into the ECM is encased in a plastic holder, I believe. What pin is missing?

Sometimes there is a missing male pin and a plugged female pin to ensure the two connectors do not get switched with another wrong connector. They are "Keyed".

The 1982 PROM would contain data specific to the 1982 ECM and that application. A new one would need to be programmed with data correct for the application.

Is your missing pin broke, or a keyed pin? What is this missing pin on?

On an IC, pin number one is identified with a dot or some other type of symbolic marking. The socket is identified with a marking dot or symbom as well. They need to be aligned when you are mating the two.

I thought I explained it,but I will try again.
Sockets are made for plug in chips.
They don't usually make a socket for 23 pins and one for 22 pins and one for 19 pins and so forth.
Sometimes when you plug in the prom you may have one,two or even three no connects,
Do you know what that means?
The pin plugs in say maybe 16 and it goes nowhere.
It's an extra pin..........
I don't have a wiring diagram for the prom so I don;t know.
I simply thought someone did.
If I have to I will remove the ecm take it out of the case and look myself.
I am trying to save the extra work.
If I see a pin on the circuit board and it doesn't have anything on the board taking it anywhere it is what I would call open....not used....there you go..........

Download the spec sheet for the PROM part number.

Thanks Shark
But so far I haven't found one. Jim
