I only WISH I had bugs on the front of my car right now..........than at least I know I was driving it. Soon enough for mine I hope in the meantime I keep waiting!

Hi Barry,
Yes, that picture was taken over a year ago so the paint chips are long gone.

I spoke with the paintshop today (I tend not to just drop by as it is an hour away). The internal door repair work (locks, pulls, etc.) is done, jambs painted, inside door surfaces as well, and the doors re-installed. Primer is done and at least one coat of colour on. Things are pretty well on track for finish next week I believe. We shall see.....

The aftermarket BB hood is presenting a problem. It aligns nicely with the fender lines but apparently is about 1/8 to 1/4" too high at the headlamp body panel union. This presents a dilemma as a hood can be shimmed up (my original SB hood was) but obviously not shimmed down! I have never heard of this problem before although I realize every hood has its own personality. The shop has some ideas but I do not know what they have in mind. I apparently insulted their intelligence by asking if they had removed the shims under the hinge-to-body area?? In any case I will be bringing the new bumpers to them tomorrow morning and will have a look-see and discussion.

If readers have ever encountered a "high" hood before, and have a solution, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks!

If you shim only under the rearmost hinge-to-body attachment on each side, it will effectively lower the pivot point on the hinge and pull the front edge of the hood down in the closed position.

That is exactly what I saw today at the shop. The hood was not on but that was their approach.

The cheap solution is to drill out the hinge pivot rivet; file the holes in each half so larger holes will lower the hood - that is file the upper half up and the lower half down - until the hole will accomodate the nylon flanged inserts for the throttle rod pivots. Insert the pivots with a flange between the hinge halves, then insert a 1/4 bolt with a nylok nut. It worked for me.

The expensive solution is to break the fenders loose from the inner panels and glue them back in a higher position.

I bought a set of shaved hinges from a forum member. I know I have a C3 but should be the same.

Actually he had someone cut out 1/4 in or so and then reweld them & smooth out.

I pulled up to a stoplight (first in line) near my home today and two guys in a pickup directly across the intersection jumped out and did the "We're not worthy" bows. :BOW :BOW

Now that was funny. I had forgotten how much fun driving could be.

I'm now up to 833 miles, and it purrs like a (I was gonna say kitten) Sabre Tooth Tiger on the highway to Heaven. Our cottage neighbours have a new-found respect for "the man".
