I ahve now had the pleasure of getting the mechanical aspects of my 84 squared away so I can make an honest assessment of the good ole' L83. My car has 79k on it and is bone stock except I believe the previous owner added a shift kit to the trans and gutted the converter as it has a pretty throaty growl that I don't usualy hear in early C4's. I can definitely say that the Cross fire Engine is a stout performer. My seat of the pants-o-meter says it feels like a hi 14 second car or about 2-3 tenths faster than the stock times I have seen for these 84's. Overall i am pleased with the responsiveness of the engine and the car feels great. I was pleasantly surprised at how strong a runner it is. I would definitely tell anyone wanting a C4 and having not alot of cash to start to not shy away form the 84's as they are great performers and values. Don't let the Cross Fire Injection scare you away.

Also is it possible for a stock 84 with just a gutted cat to run hi 14's? Just curious on peoples opinions. Anyone here ever run their 84 at the track and what did it run and with what mods?

Thanks for all info.

Least we not forget they are also one of the best handling C-4's ever built. 84 CF 91 ZR-1
