hi all

can somebody post a pic of the way the wiring harness and the radiator hose that runs from the radiator to the expansion tank is run on their C2? I just need a pic of the front passenger side corner of the engine bay by the hood latch area (hood latch on right side)

I think when the painter reassembled my car he ran it wrong when reinstalling the latch and now if i'm not extemely careful they interfere with the latch when closing the hood. They are currently run infront of the hood latch (engine side) and I have a feeling they are suppose to run on the other side of the latch tucked up by the hood lip and than around the front of of the latch......

thanks!

oh, one more thing..... if the harness and hose are run wrong I figure I just need to unbolt one side of the latch - either from the hood or from the ineer fender, move the cables to the other side of it and rebolt. Are the nuts that are on the other side of the inner fender tack welded or anything that I don't have to worry about them falling off when I take the bolts out? I can't see how I'd reach both the bolt and the nut at the same time otherwise.

I've been questioning with this since I got my car. The AIM shows the hose from the radiator running over the top of the hood support lower bracket along with the wiring harness. On mine, the wiring harness is tucked under the fender lip, but the hose gets squeezed a little by the hood when closed. It doesn't seem to lift the hood any and the coolant seems to flow OK, so I have left it as is. Just doesn't look right.

this is how mine is currently and I didn't have to push the harness and hose down out of the way of the latch previously like it is now so I figure it's suppose to go on the other side of the latch.

i'm going to switch it. Just need to make sure that the bolts on either end of the latch won't be a problem to reinstall afterwards - do you know if the nuts on the iner finder for the bottom of the latch are tack welded on the other side or if I remove the two bolts they are going to just drop off and give me problems?

Barry,

The plastic clip that's holding the wires to the inner fender should be in the upper most hole in the inner fender (above where it is now). That will put the wiring harness and the hose up under the fender lip. The wiring goes furthest under the lip and the hose runs as far under as you can get it.

Directly under where your hose makes the turn towards the radiator, there is another plastic wire clip. I believe the hose should run through this one also.

My small radiator hose sits between the bolt for the hood support and the support itself. Mine may be a little short. Your's may be long enough to go further towards the fender lip.

That's how the AIM shows it.

I know the clip belongs up in that hole but that's if i put it there is when I than have trouble with the harness and hose interferring with the latch as it comes down in front of and along side of it on the engine side. That's why I figure it's run wrong and should fun past the latch on the other side (fender side).
i'm switching it!

I'll shoot some pics this afternoon. Have to update my album anyway with the new AC installation.

Barry, these pics aren't the greatest (cheap camera), but here's the cable run.

The extra connections in the harness are the Alternator extensu\ion harness I used to move the Alt from pass to driver side.

they are more than fine Paul. it confirms what I needed to know about the routing. the painter put them on the wrong side of the latch. I'll move them
thanks!
:)

Barry another reason that you could be having a little bit of a problem with your cooling also because of the routing of that hose from the radiator to the expansion tank. Once you route that correctly you will have proper flow thru the radiator during the expansion of the coolant. Dave.

Dave

you know, that kind of accured to me too but wasn't sure how much that would have really affected it but it makes sense! thanks for the input!
:)

Paul is correct - the expansion tank hose and the wire harness both route between the base of the hood support and the hood opening lip; it's shown that way in the '65 A.I.M. in Section 12, Sheet A8. Just unscrew the two bolts holding the support base to the inner fender, put the harness and hose on the outboard side, and re-install the bolts. They go into weldnuts on a reinforcement riveted under the inner fender, so nothing will fall off when you remove the bolts.

thank you John, that's what I was waiting to hear - about the nuts! :beer

always nice to know I won't lose my nuts........... ;LOL
