Am I excited or what?

My salesman called last Friday to see if I'm still interested in a C6. I've been on their "waiting list," for over a year. "Definitely," I replied. He informed me that the owner requires a deposit, or be removed from the list. No problem.....gave him my credit card number and BINGO, I'm in! :j

Now the wait begins.

Questions:

1. How much of a deposit did he require?
2. Does he guaranty that you will pay "only" sticker - no "market value" mark up?
3. Did he indicate when the orderplacement date would be?

1. Personal
2. We did not discuss price yet. I've bought new Vettes from him before, and he knows I do not pay MSRP on any new car.
3. No, order info is not yet available. GM is still building '03 Vettes.

Oh IMO I would wait a bit and get a Price Lock in before I would ever give anyone a deposit on a car. I know there is no pricing yet but at least a letter/contract stating federal window (or what ever it is going to be) would do. Unless you have a signed "deal" or contract with the dealer you have nothing but a charge on your Visa. Get it on paper in writing ASAP even if you "Know" this dealer. I had a dealer screw me this same way and I had purchased several cars from them before, so be careful. When a new model comes out like this, "greed" takes over under that big Chevy sign :D

Are you going to keep the Z06 or trade/sell it?

Cfour: Thanks for the advice.

Edmund: I will first try to sell the Zee.

Zipster :) :)

so, you paid an UNDISCLOSED deposit for a car that you will not see for 2 years!? As was stated, they are still building 2003's and will retool for 2004's here in June. Then we have a year run on 2004's and retool in June 2004 to start building the C6!

So, does anyone have a guess as to when the C6's will be available (i.e. when I can actually drive one off the lot)?

That's correct. When are you getting a C6?

I'm on a list #1.....

No deposit required as yet.....they are making interest off of your 500 or whatever sum.

I'm in at MSRP or lower

And who wants my spot in line as the car looks to much like a C5 :puke

think I will keep my 1963 and 2001 Z06's - like folks have stated, the C6 ain't much different from the C5 - now, if they had a Z06 in the C6 lineup and the C6 Z06 really came with the horsepower it should, I might be convinced to buy

Well, I'm not so sure about how similar the C6 will be to the C5. I'm still hoping GM has done an excellent job of throwing everyone a curve ball. Correct me if I'm wrong, we still haven't seen a REAL picture of the C6.

At any case, I sold my C5 a couple years ago, so I'm buying a C6 know matter how it looks. I can't go wrong, I love the C5 look, and if it's radically different, all the better.

Also, it will be the latest greatest vette, and that's a class act in my book.

I think you've hit that curve out of the park!

By the way, the 2004 will be about a short 6-8 month production year. We should see some dealers receiving C6s in 12-14 months. The C6 with more power, less weight, nicer interior, etc. is promised to be shown in January '04. C5 production must cease shortly after that (lame ducks - even the great C5 - don't sell well).

What kind of discounts do you think we will see on any '04s that are left over? The reason why i ask is that I am currently searching for a C5 and if the discounts are substantial enough, I will wait until i can grab one at a way cheaper price

No one knows - this is my guess: We have already seen some price increases in 03. There will be more for two reasons:

1. So dealers can off bigger "Discounts" to move the last of the C5s. You'll be able to deal for a C5 and the discount will seem to he very good, because its based on an inflated sticker. There will probably be some dealer incentives for taking on C5s as we get closer to the C6 release.

2. To get the price very near, or maybe at the same price as the kick-off price for the C6 - good PR.

I agree, Longtimer. I especially hope we're right about the C6's intro price in relations to the C5.
