I finally got around to putting in the K&N (about $75. I think). No cut lid, just replaced the stock paper element. My SOP evaluation is no change.
I have put K&N in several other vehicles & usually felt that it helped the intake breath a little better.

My theory is that the stock paper filter on the LT4 is so big (I don't know about l98's or lt1's - may be different) that it doesn't matter. If there is a restriction/gain to be made - it's elsewhere in the intake / exhaust stream.

I'm thinking the exhaust will be next.

Just doing the basic stuff here, not ready to tear the engine apart yet.

Life's too short for boring cars!

Hib has said as much also. The C4 air filter is more than large enough. The K&N will provide better filtration and last 100's of times longer than a paper filter, so it's still a good idea.

I wholeheartedly agree. Just be sure to maintain it properly, that is, keep it cleaned and oiled. ;)

Thanks for the feedback guys!

hi, i was thinking about a kn also. i have had people argue with me that it will increase the horsepower by going to kn. the filter on my 90 seems as large as the furnace filter in my house. it would be interesting to see what other things you will do that will truly improve the hp and performance. thanks joe
