Putting a C6 Navigation screen in a C5

Hey guys, just wondering has anyone out there put the naigation/radio screen out of a C6 corvette in a C5?

Can u buy the dash piece out of a C6 and put it in a C5? or can u buy the navigation screen and some how put it i nthere, cause it looks so clean and it is nice to have free navigation.

so if anyone out there has done this or knows anyone thats done this, plz let me know i can use all the help i can get.

If anyone hasa C5 and a C6 with navigation if u have time check and see if the console piece will work from the C6 to C5.

Here is a link to one man's solution. Others involve extensive fabrication to the dash which include relocating temp. control module to the ashtray area and cutting and re-fabricating the space bar under the stereo. Keep us posted if you decide to make the mod. Good luck.

I'd love to hear if you're successful in finding an easier way to get this mod done. I've looked everywhere and haven't been able to find anything but a custom install. I did see one done by an installer at Tweeter in my town and it looked fantastic - but it was reportedly very expensive. I've also looked for a 1.5 DIN head unit with the kind of features I'd like but no luck there either. The easiest way to make this a simple mod may be to use one of the slide out and tilt up units but I believe they'll block the center AC vents - if they fit at all. I've got a quote on a different type of head unit without the display but haven't done it in hopes of finding out a way to get what I really want.
