putting a mechanical fan back on my 82 questions

I want to get rid of my dual electric fans and run a mechanical fan on the car like it originally had ... Now heres the problem, I am going to use a 1984 corvette belt drive system so any ideas on what type of thermal clutch mechanical fan to use?

If it's more hassle then just reliably getting the dual fans to work I will stick with the electric fans.

Also originally how many blades would my fan have had and what diameter? I would actually like to use a FORD fan but don't curse me for this. I just was thinking about using a 87-93 mustang 5.0 plastic fan if it would mount up to the waterpump. Just kinda like the lighter spinning mass of the plastic fan and think it would cool better since they seem to have quite a few blades on them.

Have you thought about a Flexlite fan? They are fairly narrow.

You'll need to obtain an OEM shroud to get the most out of any fan.

Yes I plan on locating a fan shroud for it again ..... This car will be run in summer heat in california so prefer a factory type fan that pulls a lot of air.

If that's a serpentine belt system, you'll need a reverse-rotation water pump, fan, and clutch.

Topless- did you use a reverse flow water pump for your car?

If not... that could be a problem that would cause overheating. Maybe your fans are fine.

No it doesn't overheat at all. I just want a mechanical so I never have to worry about relays and such. I'm not overly concerned with power loss from a mechanical fan isn't like my cfi engine has any anyways hahaha ..... Just want the reliability is all.

I think you can use a Flexlite either way. You'll need to install it backwards for the reverse rotation. No clutch needed- they have adapter / spacer brackets.

I think some GM trucks use a reverse rotation mechanical fan.

Not a big fan of those clutchless fans because they are noisy
